Aleph Farms Serves Up World's First Lab-Grown Steak

While the demand for meat continues to climb, the environmental challenges that accompany its production have risen as well, such as the high requisition of water and land required for raising cattle, and the release of greenhouse gases and pollutants. To help alleviate the large environmental footprint of supporting a growing global population, Israel-based Aleph Farms became the first company in the world to serve a fully slaughter-free steak. Aleph developed a lab-based process that mimics the natural development of the cow’s body under controlled conditions, and maintains that its 3D-cultivated steak boasts the same taste,  texture, and smell as conventional beef, while minimizing the environmental impact, harm to animals, and use of antibiotics that traditionally accompanies its production.
